Preparing Your Team For Ministry
The Roca Blanca Mission Base provides outreach opportunities for those with various skills and levels of
experience in foreign missions. Our goal with short-term teams is to help each team make as deep of an
impact as possible on this region. We know that this will be an intense time of personal spiritual growth and a
strengthen relationship with God.
There are many ways that your team can prepare for time at Roca Blanca. After reading the
orientation manual, please read this page to give your team a strong understanding of the best ways you can
help. The following list of questions is available to better understand the strengths of the team and suggest
ways that you can help our ministry:
- Does your team have builders? Churches always have building projects, and in a region where
churches are growing but resources are slim, a group bringing money for supplies and eager hands for the labor
is a wonderful asset and an encouragement to new believers and old.
- Does your team love evangelism? There are unlimited options in Oaxaca for reaching out to the lost
souls. Street ministries in towns, door-to-door evangelism in small villages, childrens' campaigns, and drama
are just a few examples. The Jesus film has also been translated into many of the local dialects. Regional
pastors are available to provide discipleship to new believers in their own communities.
- Does your team have doctors? Doctors and nurses of every kind have served in the Corban Clinic
on teams ranging in length from a few days to a few months, and in size from 1 to 100. Three regional clinics
provide ample opportunity to travel and touch those suffering from the oppression of diseases. Local hospitals
help by providing locations for surgery. Dentists are always welcome in this area where basic dental hygiene
and other preventative measures are basically unknown.
- Does your team have a strong prayer group? Roca Blanca provides a wonderful atmosphere for glorious worship and
anointed prayer. Teams of worshipers and intercessors have teamed with us during special events to bring support
and experience the movement of God's Holy Spirit among his children in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Whether your team has much, little, or no experience at all in the foreign mission field, Roca Blanca is a
place to come and learn. Effective ministry takes risk and sometimes stepping out in faith is the only way to
see the awesome way God can move through you! Nearly all of the short-term missionaries have gone back to their
home churches with a deeper sense of thankfulness, a stronger faith, and a new passion to work with God to
advance the Kingdom in their home area. Consider putting a team together and seeing what God will do - in Mexico,
in your team, and in your own personal life.
Ideas for Ministry
Children's Ministry: Puppets, quick skits, silly songs with hand motions (in Spanish), children's
Bible messages, paints, balloons, crayons & coloring books, physical games (ex: Duck-Duck-Goose), candy that
doesn't melt, small prizes, and other easy crafts.
Youth Ministry: Modern Spanish Christian music, drama, competitions (group games or sports), sports equipment
(basketballs, soccer balls, etc), and presentations of Christian movies (DVDs).
Many of the children and youth do not have Bibles. If your team will be working with these groups, please bring
Spanish NIV Bibles and activity books to donate.
Building Projects: Leather gloves, wide-brim hat, work shoes, sunglasses, small tools used for construction
(metric tape measures, levels, etc.)
